Eaglewood East

Housing Visions and the Syracuse Veterans Administration Medical Center are partnering together to make the Eaglewood East project a success. The VA Medical Center will provide housing referrals and supportive services for 15 of the 26 units to qualified homeless veterans.

Eaglewood East involves the gut rehabilitation of 4 existing residential buildings, the new construction of 4 multi-unit buildings and the complete demolition of two buildings with corresponding new construction of 1 building.

By rehabilitating existing deteriorated residential structures and filling a void with new construction, Eaglewood East will enhance and continue the revitalization of the neighborhood, building upon the success of previous Housing Visions & other community projects while encouraging other non-assisted development.

Three of the newly constructed buildings with 13 1-bedroom and 2 2-bedroom housing units will be reserved to provide permanent housing to the homeless population, giving preference and supportive services to veterans. The remaining units will help satisfy the quality affordable needs of larger families with 8 3-bedroom, and 3 4-bedroom units.

The project will remain affordable for 45 years with compliance being monitored by Housing Visions Unlimited, Inc. HVU will purchase the buildings from Eaglewood East, LLC at the end of the initial 15-year LIHC compliance period. Six of the nine buildings will then be sold to qualified residents. The tenant/buyer will be held to the Regulatory Agreement for the remainder of the 45 year Regulatory Period.
