Oswego
Hamilton Homes Phase I is the first of three phases for the redevelopment of a
failing public housing apartment complex in the City of Oswego known as Hamilton
Homes. Not only will the completion of the redevelopment preserve the only
affordable housing stock in the area, but it will also revitalize the community
with its refreshing aesthetics and professional property management.
The Oswego Hamilton Homes Phase I project is substantially renovating 9 of the 28 buildings, 54 of the 186 units, and community space. It will meet the affordable housing needs of 13 families at or below 30% area median income (AMI), 23 at or below 50% and 18 families at or below 60%. The quality renovations will result in 4 1-bedroom, 30 2-bedroom and 20 3-bedroom housing units following the Green Building Initiative. The announcement that central air conditioning will be incorporated in all buildings was received by the current residents with overwhelming joy. Preference in tenant selection will be first to families that required relocation, and to tenants from public housing waiting lists. It will also incorporate 9 units reserved for special needs population and holds an agreement for services for those households. The project will remain affordable for 50 years.
