The Candlewood Court I and II projects are a part of the Small Project Affordable Rental Construction Program (SPARC) under the auspices of the NYS Homes and Community Renewal Housing Trust Fund Corporation (HTFC) and the Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery (GOSR). This program is designed to provide funding for construction of affordable multifamily rental properties located in areas where housing stock was damaged or lost due to the impact of Superstorm Sandy, Hurricane Irene and/or Tropical Storm Lee. Housing Visions identified the Village of Richmondville in Schoharie County as an area that was dramatically affected by these storms.

The development consist of new quality rental housing on vacant land o East Main Street (Route 7). The Candlewood Court I & II adds 40 units of quality affordable housing comprised of two – 20, 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom apartment buildings with easy access to municipal services, retail and major transportation routes. The structures are integrated with other non-residential uses to establish a new “gateway” into Richmondville. The units are targeted to individuals and families earning 80% of Area Median Income and below. Each building includes approximately 24,000 sf (total of both floors).
